The Left-Green Movement (eco-socialist feminist party of Iceland) Jan. 8th, 2011 @ 01:08 am
Fundamental Policies of the Left-Green Movement
(Vinstrihreyfingin – grænt frambod)

The Left-Green Movement seeks to promote radical social improvements for the benefit of the public, to promote the respect and protection of nature and the environment of Iceland and to strengthen rural areas all over Iceland. The Movement is a forum and campaign tool for those who wish to eliminate gender discrimination and ensure equal rights, women's freedom and increased equality in society.

The Left-Green Movement seeks to develop a democratic and fair society founded on the active participation of the public. The Movement rejects the autocracy of capitalism and seeks to protect the independence of the nation and its sovereignty over its own natural resources. The Left-Green Movement wishes to resign membership in military alliances. The Movement places emphasis on positive and peaceful co-operation with all nations, protecting nature and the environment of Iceland and ensuring the sustainable development of the society.

The Left-Green Movement believes that the classic points of emphasis of the left movement as regards equality and social justice, radical environmental protection views and demands for sustainable development, should and must be integrated. Neither can survive on its own when looking to the future. The standards of living and welfare of the current generations cannot be based on damaging natural resources and thus curtailing the rights of the generations that follow. In the same manner this means that in a sound environmental policy, short-term interests, consumerism and greed must be replaced by the protection of the environment and the preservation of natural resources. The work at hand is to elevate the values of the real qualities of life and create a society where justice and equality are in harmony with Nature in its entirety and with Mother Earth.

French hunters, boars and another stuff Dec. 27th, 2010 @ 02:52 am
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-11948612

Remplace "boar" by "human" in the BBC article, it works well most of the time...
It reminds of some articles I read this year about a third human race which has coexisted with our human race at a time and such as the Neanderthal did with us : interbreeding (except with Africans), in this case, Denisova interbred with Melanesians.
There was something interesting in the article : why did the two other races (Neanderthal and Denisova) disappeard and not us .
I think that humans don't like competition...

Exemple/Example :

The problem is not just that the animals cause severe damage to crops and meadowland.

They are also beginning to encroach on areas inhabited by humans. Omnivorous, adaptable and highly mobile, wild boar have been increasingly spotted in town streets and gardens in recent years.

In 2009, they were responsible for nearly 21,000 road accidents across the country. Neighbouring countries including Germany and Italy reported similar problems. Now it is up to the hunters to keep the wild boar population under control

To curb their numbers, the government recently enacted a National Wild Boar Control Plan. This authorises the hunting of boar all year round, in suburban zones as well as the countryside, and at night as well as in the daytime.

Previously hunting for boar was seasonal, as for other game.

» Call to releaqse monkeys in Utrecht, Netherlands.
* Target: University of Utrecht
* Sponsored by: Anti Dierproeven Coalitie

The University of Utrecht, Netherlands, has recently announced an end to their primate research program and are now deciding what to do with the remaining five long-tailed macaque monkeys. They have stated that they're currently considering one of three options:--

1) Killing them and putting their brains into a database.
2) Giving the monkeys to Nijmegen University for the similar types of experiments.
3) Handing them over to one of the sanctuaries that have already agreed to take them.

This petition is to call on the University to release the monkeys to a sanctuary where they can live out their natural lives free from further unnecessary suffering!

April Evans a

Lettre-type :

I am writing to ask that you immediately stop testing space radiation
studies that involve the use of live monkeys.

Genetic, physiological, and anatomical differences between humans and
monkeys dramatically limit the conclusions that can be drawn from the
planned studies. Ongoing, ethically-conducted studies already use
non-animal methods to determine the effects of radiation on humans.

Radiation experiments involving non-human primates commonly involve
restraint and other cruel procedures. Monkeys, like other primates, are
highly intelligent, have strong family relationships, demonstrate empathy,
and most importantly, they can suffer!

I urge you to make the compassionate choice to immediately halt Brookhaven
National Laboratory's plans to participate in this inhumane and wasteful
experiment.

Thank you.

Četudi zgodovino elektronske in eksperimentalne večinoma povezujemo z Zahodno kulturo, zasledimo zgodnje zvočne eksperimente že leta 1944 v Egiptu (Halim El-Dabh), v Izraelu l.1957 (Shalhevet Freier), Turčiji l.1959 (Ilhan Mimaroglu), leta 1963 v Indoneziji (Slamet Abdur Sjukur), l.1965 v Iranu (Alireza Mashayekhi) itn.

________________________________________________________________________________

We would like kindly to invite you to the lecture "The history of electronic and experimental music in Africa and Asia", by multifaced vegan artist, composer, musician and producer Cedrik Fermont, that will be held on 2.7 2010 at 7 p.m. on Ljudmila, Rimska 8 in Ljubljana.

The lecture (followed by sound samples) will present the origins of electronic and experimental music in Africa and Asia. Although the history of experimental and electronic music is mostly associated with the Western culture, we can find early sound experiments already in 1944 in Egypt (Halim El-Dabh), 1957/Israel (Shalhevet Freier), 1959/Turkey (Ilhan Mimaroglu), 1963/Indonesia (Slamet Abdur Sjukur) , 1965/ Iran (Alireza Mashayekhi), etc..

The result of many years of research will be the book containing all the materials and informations collected during that period. The book will be released in the near future.

Cedrik Fermont, the label manager of the Belgian Syrphe Records, has met on his "never ending" world tour many artists from all around the world and participated in various experimental projects of industrial and ambient music, such as Ambre, Ammo, Axiome, Hollywood Dead Stars, Xingu Hill. Syrphe records released several albums and compilations with artists from African, Middle East and Asian countries such as Iran, Tunisia, Algeria, Singapore, etc..

ABOUT CRNO KLANK
http://www.syrphe.com/projects/crno/crno.html

C-drík Fermont aka Kirdec is a Belgian musician who studied electro-acoustic music at the conservatory of Mons, Belgium.

Since 1989 he has been producing various styles such as noise, sound art, electro, industrial, breakcore and more and performed with a lot of artists around the world (Europe, North America, North Africa, East-Asia, the Middle-East) recording inside projects like Axiome, Crno Klank, Tetra Plok, and many more, collaborating with numerous artists (Yan Jun, Mick Harris, Marc Spybey, David Thrussel, Li Chin Sung, Nakamura Yuji, to speak about a few).

He produces music for short movies, dance and theatre. Running the label Syrphe - which is mostly focused on producing avant-garde, electronic and experimental music from Africa and Asia - he is currently giving a series of lectures about this avant-garde scene from both "forgotten" continents and writes a book around this subject.

ABOUT NOISH~
http://noconventions.mobi/noish/

Oscar Martín holds a Fine Arts degree from the Universidad Politecnica of Valencia, specializing in Sculpture and Audiovisual Media. That is where he came into contact with sound art through Leopoldo Amigo y Bartolomé Ferrando.

A sound explorer, he bases his work on the deconstruction of field recordings and the creative use of technology errors. Luthier-digital with a “pure data” environment, which he uses to develop his own experimental tools for processing and real time algorithmic-generative composition. He can be placed somewhere between Computer Music, the Aesthetics of Error, and generative noise.

He seeks the creation of virtual sound universes, imaginary soundscapes that encourage active listening and a different sensibility toward the perception of sound phenomena.

He works under the open source paradigm. All his work is published under Creative Commons licence, by different recording labels and netlabels (dronerecords, tecnoNucleo, costellam, etc.)

His music has been presented both as a solo artists (noise dreams machina, noish~) and along with a variety of collaborative projects (segmentation Fault with Xavi Manzanares, Mecanikas Moebius with Javier Marisco) in different spaces and national/international festivals.
